Intentional self-regulation

Fear of Freedom
August 19, 2014What does the gazelle do when it isn’t being chased by the lion?
Do you require crises in your life in order to make the changes that are needed, or to act as you know you should or to be present in your life? Do you have to hit rock bottom in order to have the incentive to be motivated to do what you have to live your life wholeheartedly?
I am willing to bet that if you believe that, and it might be a very subtle belief, if you’re honest with yourself and you see that that is what you believe, then you will create those situations in your life in order to move forward. How will you create those situations? Through inaction.
It’s like a bird flying over some water. The minute it stops flapping its wings it will begging to fall, slowly at first, but eventually it will need to flap it’s wings to stay aloft. And most people will flap just enough to stay out of the water because they think that flapping their wings isn’t what life is about. It’s about gliding. It’s about smooth sailing. But that’s a mistake. It’s an illusion.
Life is a constant struggle. Look at animals in the wild. Look at a plant breaking out of it’s seed and pushing through the soil. Life struggles because that is it’s nature. It doesn’t struggle to exist, it only exists because of that struggle. Once you accept that and reframe the idea that struggle or effort or discipline is bad and not the way it should be, then you become free. Not free from struggle, but free of your judgement that “this shouldn’t be happening”. If you’re asking yourself, “why is this happening to me?” you’re already in the trap.
It is happening. That’s all you need to know. So don’t wait for the problems in your life to come to a head before you deal with them. Act now in the interest of peace of mind and self liberation.
