Daily maintenance sequence – 11 May 2021

A simple "maintenance" sequence that was designed for one of my students so that they could keep conditioned while away on holiday. The sequence covers all of the basic postures from standing poses to backbends to forward folds. It is different from the daily flow sequence in that each posture is addressed individually.

Daily maintenance flow – 10 March 2021

This is a daily maintenance flow sequence that I use when I am a bit pressed for time. It covers most of the primary categories of asana (standing poses, backbends, twists and forward folds) with the exception of some of some of the more advanced inversions (although there is some headstand conditioning work).

To headstand or not to headstand

A lot of my students ask me about if I think that headstand (sirsasana) should be taught or not. My general answer is a diversion: "headstand is a very complicated posture with many moving parts and considerations and it's very difficult to do it correctly without some distortion or subsequent damage."
